Henry Wade Mitchell, 80, of 514 Kathy Hill Road, husband of Frankie Bowie Mitchell, died Saturday, July 23, 2016 at his home.
Born in Comer, GA, he was a son of the late John Henry and Ada Duncan Mitchell. Henry retired from Monsanto and was a Mason. He was a member of First Damascus Baptist Church where he was a Sunday school teacher for over 50 years. He was also a Gideon.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Ted Mitchell and Gene Mitchell.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are four children; Jackie Mitchell Haney of Greenwood, Sherry Mitchell Eppelsheimer (John) of Mt. Pleasant, Katie Melissa Mitchell of Summerville, and Preston Riley Mitchell (Taylor) of Greenwood; five grandchildren, Meredith French, Jeremy Day, Herbert "Win" French, Michael Day, and Tracy Day; and five great grandchildren.
Services will be held at 11:00 am on Tuesday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Mark Strickland and David Hitt officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Tony Worthington, Rhett Dominick, Harry Metts, Buster Wells, Gene Thompson and Will Metts.
Honorary escort will be Walt Pruitt, Sonny Meadows, Eddgy Walden and Carl Funderburk.
The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Monday from 6:00 to 8:00 pm.
