Herbert Carlton �Hub� Johnson, Sr., 82, of 56 W. Cork Street, Ware Shoals, husband of Eva McNeill Johnson, died Monday, August 16, 2010 at Hospice House. Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Benjamin Franklin Johnson, Sr. and Vera Eula Allen Johnson. He was retired from Monsanto (Solutia), was an employee of Harley Funeral Home and Crematory and was a good worker. He was a former member of the Emerald Lanes Bowling Team and served as secretary of the Men�s Bowling Association from 1989-1993. He was a member of Lowell Street United Methodist Church and was a member of the choir. He was twice married, first to the late Helen Watson Johnson and was preceded in death by sisters, Lucille Johnson, Ruth Thornton and Louise Lewis; brothers, Howard Johnson and Roy Lee Johnson; and two step sons, James McNeill and Tim McNeill. Surviving is his wife of the home; a son, Herbert �Herbie� (Carolyn) Johnson, Jr. of Greenwood; a step daughter, Deborah (Russell) Streetman of Isle of Palms; a sister, Patricia Digby of Anderson; three brothers, Marion S. Johnson of Wewahitchka, FL Ben Johnson, Jr. and James Johnson, both of Greenwood; brother and sister-in-law, Olin and Rebecca Turner; two grand daughters, Sherry Newton and Christy Bailey; two great granddaughters, Hannah Prince and Leah Newton; two great grandsons, Noah Newton and Ely Bailey; two step grandsons, Dylan McNeill and Austin McNeill; and three step granddaughters, Stacey Johnson, Nicole Streetman and Lauren Morgan. Pallbearers will be Al Turner, Pat Stone, Jim Ballard, Michael Johnson, Jeff Dysart, Horace Files and Grady Bearden. Honorary escort will be the staff of Harley Funeral Home and members of the choir of Lowell Street United Methodist Church.
