Horace O�Dell Bennett, 79, of 6614 Ninety Six Highway, widower of Betty Crowe Bennett, died Saturday, March 8, 2014 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Piedmont, he was a son of the late George Brice Bennett and Bessie Dill Bennett. Horace was a professional wrestler known by �The Flying Kentuckian� and former supervisor for GTE in Florida. He was a U. S. Marines veteran, a Mason in the Eureka Lodge #47 and a member of Temple Baptist Church. Horace was a devoted Christian and loved spending time with his family and enjoyed singing and playing his guitar, for residents in local nursing homes. He was preceded in death by a brother, John Wayne Bennett, Sr. Surviving are a son, Butch Bennett(Sandra) of Saluda; a brother, Ken Bennett of Greenwood; a sister, Clara Cromer (Bill) of Ninety Six; three grandchildren, Lacie Bennett, Brandon Bennett, both of Saluda, and Courtney Ashley of Calhoun Falls; and three great grandchildren, Michael Fultz, Keith Cockrell, Jr. and Anslee Cockrell. Pallbearers will be Phillip Cromer, Brian Cromer, Thomas Wilson, John Bennett, Jimmy Barbee, Raymond Barbee, Chip Whitt and Ryan Ashley.
