Inola Medlin Rivers, 85 of 308 Green Oaks Road, formerly of 118 Timberwood Road, Greenwood, widow of Roscoe N. Rivers, died Monday, August 8, 2016 at her home.
Born in Six Mile, SC, she was a daughter of the late James Cleo Medlin and Mildred Hendricks Medlin, she grew up in Seneca, SC. Inola was a longtime employee in Greenwood at S-Mart and later at BELK. She was a member of Laurel Baptist Church. Inola loved her children, grandchildren, great grandchildren and her nieces and nephews, some of whom she was like a second mother to. She was known by everyone as a great cook.
Surviving are two sons, Gregg Rivers and his wife, Joy, and Scott Rivers and his wife Melanie, all of Greenwood; grandsons, Kyle Rivers (Kayla) and Cory Rivers (Lauren); a granddaughter, Courtney Rivers; step grandson, Strom Hawkins; two great granddaughters, Kamryn and Katelyn Rivers; and a sister, Glenora Morey.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Kitty Medford and Edith Long; and a brother, Leroy Medlin.
Graveside service will be held at 2:30 pm on Thursday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Darrell Rooks officiating.
The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Thursday from 1 to 2 pm.
