Irene Scoggins Day, 81, of 223 Virginia Avenue, widow of Charles E. Day Sr., died Saturday, September 14, 2013, at Hospice House. Born in Elberton, GA, she was the daughter of the late William Franklin Scoggins and Clara Alewine Scoggins. She was a member of Restoration Ministries Church of God. Irene was active in the church for over 64 years. Surviving is a son, William F. Day (June) of Greenwood; daughter-in-law, Anne Clark Day of Hodges; a brother, Billy W. Scoggins (Barbara) of Greenwood; four grandchildren, Charles E. �Chad� Day, III of Tempe, AZ, Kass Day of Hodges, and Beth Day and Ashley Knight both of Greenwood; and extended family, Mike and Angie Knight. She was preceded in death by a son, Charles E. Day, Jr. Pallbearers will be Jerry Turner, Jack Horne, Roger Laughlin, Sam Burkett, Louis Lathren and Jerry Bedingfield. Honorary escort will be members of the Friends Sunday School Class of Restoration Ministries, along with Wallace Wideman, Jimmy and Darleen Davis, Curtis and Ophelia Davenport, Lloyd and Gladys Doolittle, and Rae Jean Burkett.
