Irene Bowen James, 92, widow of Jesse M. James, died Sunday, April 20, 2014 at Hospice House. Born in Antreville, she was the daughter of the late Jehu P. and Iva Knox Bowen. She graduated from Antreville High School and retired from Park Davis as a sponge machine operator. Irene was a member of First Free Will Baptist Church. She was preceded in death by a grandson, Johnny Styron. Surviving are a daughter, Damaris J. Styron; two grandchildren, Jesse Styron and wife Janet, and Laurie Ramirez; three great grandchildren, Jared W. Styron, Austin Styron and Tiffany McDannel; and four great-great grandchildren. Memorials may be made to First Free Will Baptist Church, PO Box 365, Greenwood, SC 29646. The family is at the home, 2805 County Farm Road, Greenwood. The family would like to express their gratitude to the patient sitters, Brenda Williams, Bernice Cox, Ollie Johnson and Elaine Williams and also to the staff of Hospice Care of the Piedmont for the care they have shown Mrs. Irene James and family.
