Jennings Creighton "J. C." Brown, 76, of 808 Fifth Ave, McCormick, left to be with his Lord on Wednesday, February 8, 2017 at his home.
Born in McCormick, he was a son of the late John Yarborough Brown and Mary Frances Dillashaw Brown. J. C. was married to the late Jannette Starnes Brown. He was a graduate of McCormick High School and retired from Monsanto. He was a Masonic Past District Deputy Grand Master with Lodge 117 in McCormick and was a Shriner. He was also an avid water and snow skier and was a past member of Greenwood Ski Club. J. C. was a member of Republican United Methodist Church where he was a Lay Leader.
He was preceded in death by his siblings, Buddy Brown, Ann Brown, Doris Attaway and Johnny Brown.
Surviving are two daughters, Roxane Pittman and husband Wayne, and Karen Stokes and husband Ronnie, both of Pelzer; a son, Jeff Brown of McCormick; a sister, Sandra Bennett of, GA; two brothers, Rudy Brown of MA and Gene Brown of NC; five grandchildren, Nicole Brown, Ashley Pittman, Alex Pittman, James "Matt" Stokes and Chris Stokes; three great grandchildren, Madelyn, Steven and Stella Stokes; also loved by many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday at Republican United Methodist Church with the Rev. Justin Ritter officiating. Burial with Masonic Rites will follow in Overbrook Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Masonic Brothers: Greg Seigler, Johnny Deason, Glenn Hill, Glenn Wright, Timmy Deason, Wayne Goff, Billy Dillishaw and Bo Willis.
Honorary escort will be the members of the Masonic Lodge 117 and all other Masons.
The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Friday from 6 to 8 pm. and the body will be placed in the church on Saturday at 12 noon.
