Obituary

Dr. Jack W. Tinney, 78, of 709 Sidney Drive, husband of Marion Wrenn Tinney, died Monday, May 11, 2009 at Self Regional Medical Center. Born in Fairhope, AL, he was a son of the late Fred and Katherine Cunningham Tinney. He was a graduate of South Broward County (FL) High School, attended Florida State University and was a 1958 graduate of Lincoln Chiropractic College, Indianapolis, IN. Dr. Tinney began his chiropractic practice in South Carolina in 1959, founding what is now Ouzts-Tinney Chiropractic and Spinal Rehabilitation and was a member of the South Carolina Chiropractic Association, which awarded him the 2005 Pioneer of the Year Award and, also in 2005, inducted him in the Inaugural Class of the SCCA Hall of Fame. He was honored in 2008 by the National University of Health Sciences for fifty years of service to the chiropractic profession. Dr. Tinney served in the US Army during the Korean Conflict, was a member of Lodge 91 A.F.M., a former member of the Greenwood Jaycees and a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church. Surviving is his wife of the home; two daughters, Toni Ouzts and her husband, Norman, and Nancy Holland and her husband, Tommy, all of Greenwood; six grandchildren and seven great grandchildren.
