Jacqueline "Jackie" Norman Butler, 87, of 1004 Hwy 10, McCormick, received her heavenly wings on Monday, May 30, 2016 at Hospice House.
Born on June 10, 1928 in the Midway Community of Lincolnton, GA, she was a daughter of the late Carlton Lyle Norman and Della Ware Norman. Jackie was a devoted member of Buffalo Baptist Church and attended faithfully until her health declined. On June 5th 1948 she married the love of her life, Claude Jennes Butler. They were happily married for seventy years. Of this union they were blessed with two sons, the late Claude Ray Butler and the late Gary Lynn Butler. She worked many years in the textile field with Milliken and Company and later Talmadge Manufacturing. Upon retirement she opened her home to provide daycare for many children in the community, loving each and every child as her own. Most of these children have fond memories of Mrs. Butler's biscuits.
She spent many days with her sisters quilting beautiful quilts that are cherished to this day. Jackie enjoyed cooking, sewing and fishing with Claude in Santee. She loved nothing more than preparing big meals and baking cakes, all from scratch and was so proud that she had the pleasure of teaching Byron and Marie how to make southern homemade biscuits. She can rest in peace knowing that her grandson and future great grandchildren will not have to eat "whop biscuits".
She was preceded in death by her two sons, Claude Ray Butler and Gary Lynn Butler along with her twin sister, Joyce N. Bentley, sisters: Margaret N. Parks, Marian N. Fagan, Ada N. Wright; and brothers: Harvey Norman, Carlton Norman and Alan Norman.
Surviving in addition to her beloved husband of the home are a daughter-in-law, Kathryne "Kitty" Percival Butler of McCormick; a dedicated and loving grandson, Claude Byron Butler and his precious wife, Marie Katherine Jermov Butler of Pinckney, Michigan; a sister, Katherine N. Wheatley (Stanley) of Metasville, Georgia; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends; and special and devoted friends, Connie Link and Joyce Faye Young.
Services will be held at 4 p.m. on Wednesday at Buffalo Baptist Church with the Rev. Sid Emory and Rev. Ryan Eklund officiating. Burial will follow in McCormick City Cemetery.
Pallbearers will be Kevin Bentley, Tommy Norman, Charles Link, John Dorn and Byron Butler.
Honorary escort will be Tommy McDowell, Connie Link, Joyce Faye Young, Thomas Britt, Jimmy Edmunds, Linda Freeman Wardlaw, Shirley Dean and Vicki McLaughlin.
The family will receive friends before the service at the church from 3 to 4 p.m.
