Obituary
Rev. James E. Allen, 89, of Greenwood, SC, husband of Mary Louise Allen, died Saturday, January 20, 2018 at home, 743 Glouchester Drive, Locust Grove, GA 30248.
Born in Anderson, SC, he was the son of Clarence E. Allen and Eunice Faye Bright Allen. After the tragic death of Clarence at an Anderson mill in 1928, Eunice married W. W. (Pop) Sellers and, together, they raised James from the age of 4.
For 68 years, James dedicated his life to the ministry, serving as pastor, missionary, and state and district overseer with the Church of God. His dedication and commitment to God and his congregants was unwavering.
Surviving are his wife, Louise; a son, Rex L. Allen (Dianne); a daughter, Vickie A. Laurenzi (Larry); four grandchildren: Brian, Tori, Brad, and Lindsay; and three great grandchildren: Zack, Bailey, and Connor.
A memorial service for his family and friends will be held at Hodges Church of God, 4802 Highway 25 N, Hodges, SC on February 17, 2018 at 1:00 PM.
In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Smokey Mountain Children's Home, 560 Muncey Ct. Sevierville, TN.
