Obituary

James Thurman Goodman, 79, of 404 Abbott Avenue, husband of Evelyn Kelly Goodman, died Sunday, April 23, 2017 at his home.

Born in Ninety Six, he was a son of the late Thurman Frazier and Mary Yeargin Goodman. He was the retired owner and operator of The Pitt Stop in Ninety Six and was a US Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was of the Pentecostal Holiness faith.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are three sons, Gene Goodman (Pat), David Goodman (Karen) and Danny Goodman (Kim); a sister, Alice G. Brown; grandchildren, Chris Goodman (Sharolyn), Blake Goodman, Kevin Lewis (Teresa) and Steven Lewis; and four great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Services will be at 3 p.m. Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Brian Brock officiating. Burial, with military honors, will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Dean Trantham, Joel Ray Brown, Blake Goodman, Kevin Lewis, Steven Lewis and Tyrone Goodman.

Honorary escort will be Chris Goodman.

The family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the nurses of Hospice Care of South Carolina for their loving care.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Thursday from 2 to 3 p.m.
