James E. �Bub� Lollis, Sr., 87, of 132 Lollis Road, widower of Gloria Williamson Lollis, died Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Self Regional Medical Center. He was born on December 14, 1923 in Greenwood, to the late Edgar Abel and Lula Matthews Lollis. Bub was the former owner of Lollis Motorcycle Shop in Greenwood and retired from Monsanto. He was an icon to all of those that knew or heard of him. Bub raced Harley�s on the beach of Daytona in the late 1940�s and the 50�s. He was the epitome of a true motorcycle rider and never believed in trailering a bike; you rode it where you were going. Bub was a WWII US Army veteran. Bub started the Whitten Center Run back in 1989 and continued it until his passing. He was very proud of these rides and the donations they brought to the Whitten Center. He also established the Greenwood Annual Toy Ride which donated toys to underprivileged children. No one has a heart bigger than Bub and he enjoyed giving to others more than himself. He was preceded in death by his wife, and a sister, Elizabeth Lollis Reese. Surviving is his only son and daughter-in-law, James & Dee Lollis, and the greatest love he ever knew, his grandson, Coleton Abel Lollis all of Greenwood; along with three sisters, Doris Daniel of Clemson, Frances Watson of Florence, Virginia Williams of Jacksonville, FL; one brother, Preston Lollis of Fayetteville, NC; and his beloved dog, Blue. Pallbearers will be Rick Patton, Ricky Edmonds, Tommy Robinson, Kathy Rolin, Randy Qualls, Greg Sassman, Perry Powell and Bill Hodges. Honorary escorts will be Wayne Saylors, Benny Stevens, Phillip Hodges, J.C. Brown, George Finkenstadt, and the members of the Greenwood Motorcycle Club.
