James Raines, 81, of 365 Dodson Lane, Waterloo, husband of Sandra Lunsford Raines, died Tuesday, June 19, 2018 at his home.

Born in Newport, TN, he was a son of the late Calo and Evelyn Margaret Ford Raines. He was married twice, first to the late Ruby Lee Summers Raines. Mr. Raines retired as a CWO3 from the U. S. Army, where he served during the Vietnam Era. He was the recipient of three bronze stars, the Meritorious Service Medal, was a life member of The Retired Officers Association and the VFW, of Laurens. He was of the Baptist faith.

Surviving are five children, Amanda Lee White (Kenny) of Waterloo; James Dean Raines (Jennifer) of Greenwood, Terry Randall Raines (Angie) of Max Meadows, VA, Frederick Allen Raines (Christal) of Waterloo, and Austin Lunsford of Greenwood; eleven grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and two great great grandchildren.

In addition to his parents and first wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Owen Lee Raines.

Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating. Burial, with military rites, will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Danny Abercrombie, Austin Lunsford, Kyle Abercrombie, Kenny White, Terry Burdette, and Ryan Coffey.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
