Obituary

Jansen "Jan" Alfred Simpson, 67, widower of Elizabeth Kirk Simpson, died on August 6, 2026.Born in Tifton, GA, he was a son of the late Nathan Simpson, Sr. and Janet Stembridge Simpson. Jan was known for his sarcasm and wittiness, particularly as he carved out his niche in the construction industry as a skilled framer. Known for his easygoing nature, Jan had a special love for bluegrass music, often found "pickin and grinnin" with friends. He cherished his time at Black's Landing in Santee, where he'd enjoy a cold Miller High Life while soaking up the atmosphere. Family gatherings were always lively and loud, as Jan adored spending time with his loved ones, including his faithful dogs, Izzy and Suzy. He was also a fan of daytime TV, regularly tuning into "Days of Our Lives," and his love for the Marshall Tucker Band was well-known among friends and family. Surviving is his daughter, Lacey Rowe (Justin); his son, Chris Simpson (Brooke) and his grandchildren: Jacob Rowe, Kinsey Young, Kace Simpson and Kristiana Simpson. Harley Funeral Home and Crematory is in charge of arrangements.
