Janie Smith Harris, 91, of 1110 Marshall Road, Greenwood, SC and formerly of Tonawanda, NY and Kenton, OH, widow of Mervin Harris, died Sunday, April 17, 2016 at Wesley Commons.
Born in Elberton, GA, she was a daughter of the late John Collie and Thelma Smith. Janie enjoyed volunteering at the Self Regional Gift Shop and she was a member of St. Mark United Methodist Church and attended the Adult Sunday School class.
Surviving is her daughter, Nancy DiCiurcio (John) of Chicago, IL; son-in-law, Rex Allen of Chattanooga, TN; three sisters, Elaine Clinkscales (Fred) and Patricia Garrett (Harry), both of Greenwood, and Shirley McDowell (Bodie) of Elon, NC; two sisters-in-law, Martha Smith of Tucson, AZ and Carmen "Zory" Smith of Greenwood; grandchildren, Ryan Allen (Marianne) of Chattanooga, TN, Laura Jefferies (Todd) of Atlanta, GA, Hailey Paulson of Lake Okauchee, WI, John DiCiurcio, III (Ashley) of Chicago, IL, Luke DiCiurcio of Austin, TX, and Elizabeth DiCiurcio of Oak Park, IL; and great grandchildren, Hank Jefferies and William Jefferies, both of Atlanta, GA, and Sam DiCiurcio of Oak Park, IL; and many cherished nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by a daughter, Debra Harris Allen; and three brothers, John Horace Smith, Melvin Ward Smith, and Harper Eugene Smith.
Services will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Carol Peppers Wray and Rev. Carl Hunsucker officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
The family will receive friends before the service at the funeral home from 1 to 2 p.m.
