J. D. Lawson Brooks, 85, of 212 Bee Pond Road, husband of Sheila Wright Brooks, died Sunday, April 26, 2009 at the Saluda Nursing Center. Born in Mecklenburg County, NC, he was a son of the late Conley Otis and Amanda Warren Brooks. He retired from Davey Tree Company after 43 � years of service and was of the Baptist faith. Surviving is his wife of the home; four daughters, Frances Brown of Georgia, Linda Wells of Greenwood, Marti Saunders of Greenville and Debra Temple of Ninety Six; four sons, Jay Brooks, Scott Russ, Brad Russ and Philip Russ, all of Ninety Six; two sisters, Mozell Rowell of Mathews, NC and Jonell Kellam of Charlotte, NC; 12 grandchildren; 11 great grandchildren and a great great grandchild. He was preceded in death by sisters, Mildred Fierens and Mary Miles; brothers, Clayton Brooks, Jim Brooks and Hildred Brooks and a great grandson.
