Obituary

Jennie Lee Jackson Hix, 67, wife and soulmate of Ronald Henry Hix, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, June 24, 2026 while vacationing at her favorite place, Topsail Island, surrounded by her loved ones.

Jennie was born in Dunn, NC, and spent her childhood there before completing her senior year at Greenwood High School. She met her beloved husband, Ronald, while working together at the Apollo Theater, and they married in 1981, sharing a wonderful life filled with love and laughter.

Jennie worked for several companies, including Park Seed Co., Cincinnati Milacron, and Fuji Photo Film before completing her Associate's Degree in Computer Programming at Piedmont Technical College, graduating at the top of her class. She worked at United Health Care in Greenville, eventually retiring as a QA analyst from MetLife in Greenville. Her career was marked by her commitment and skill, but it was her role as a loving family member that truly defined her.

After retiring, Jennie made it her mission to care for her family, especially her grandsons, Carson and Dawson. She was affectionately known as "Mimi" to those she was closest to and had a knack for making everyone around her feel loved and valued.

She is survived by her husband; her children, Amanda Albright (Jon), Jillian McDonald (Josh) and Joshua Hix; her cherished grandsons, Dawson McDonald, Anthony Silas, Zachary Jackson and Noah McDonald; God granddaughter, Juliette "Jules"; her sister, Linda Morgan (AC); her brother, William "Bill" Jackson (Denise); brothers-in-law, Lamar Beal, Walter Hix, and Kenneth Hix (Barbara); bonus son, Jeremy Hix (Terri Lynn); bonus daughter, Brittany Pearson; nieces and nephews, Christopher Smith (Kristi), Traci Medley, Jim Beal, Carrie Ferqueron (Doug) and Mike Fleming; "sister-cousins", Kim Tart and Brenda Weeks and numerous cousins and extended family who she loved dearly along with many friends, co-workers and special people she was proud to take care of; and her beloved pet, Casper.

Jennie was preceded in death by her parents, William E. Jackson, Jr. and Grace Weeks Jackson; a son, Anthony Ronald Hix; a grandson, Carson McDonald; and sisters-in-law, Nancy Beal and Doris Ann Gettys.

Services will be at 12:00 noon on Tuesday at Ninety Six Pentecostal Holiness Church with the Rev. Brian Brock officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

Pallbearers will be Josh McDonald, Dawson McDonald, Noah McDonald, Jon Albright, Jeremy Hix and Christopher Smith.

The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Monday from 5:00-7:00 p.m.

Jennie had always commented that she did not want an open casket so per her request, the casket will be closed.

Family members are at the home in Belle Meade and at the home of Jillian and Josh McDonald in Ninety Six.

Memorials may be made in Jennie's memory to Ninety Six High School for Boys Basketball and mailed to 640 S. Cambridge Street, Ninety Six, SC 29666, where she was the biggest fan of her son-in-law, who coaches, and her grandsons, who play. A basketball camp is also held there in memory of Carson.
