Jerry Douglas Seabolt, 86, husband of Janelle Bowen Seabolt, passed away on Tuesday, May 19, 2026 at his home while surrounded by his loving family.
Born on June 29, 1939 in Gainesville, GA, he was a son of the late Bunyan Burley Seabolt and Mary Daisy Davis Seabolt Patterson. Doug dedicated his life to his work and family. He spent over 45 years of his professional life as a cable splicer and lineman with Sprint (formerly Greenwood Telephone Co.), where he took immense pride in his work. Notably, he was the first person to install fiber optic cable in Greenwood, a testament to his skills and dedication.For Doug, family was everything. He cherished every moment spent with his loved ones, and he was at his happiest when they were all together. He loved to hunt and fish whenever he was able, and he and his wife, Janelle, enjoyed camping with friends, creating countless memories along the way.
Doug was a member of Emerald Baptist Church, where he found joy and community.
Doug is survived by his wife of the home; his children, Tony Seabolt, Tammy Williams (Lee) and Terri Seabolt; grandchildren, TJ Seabolt (Lissa), Aaron Seabolt (Kayla), Carli Turner (David), Casey Anderson (Josh), Emerald Williams-Dowell (George) and Hannah Smith (Alex); great grandchildren, Elizabeth Cutter (Tristan), Samantha Seabolt, Chandler Kerr, Maggy Kerr, Lillie Seabolt, Laken Anderson, Alex Shaw (Thomas), Maybree Shaw, Claren Shaw, John Turner, Levi Sharpe and Cohen Seabolt; and great great grandchildren, Josie Simper and Oaklee Simper.
Services will be at 2:30 p.m. on Thursday at Emerald Baptist Church with the Rev. Craig McDaniel and the Rev. David Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be the men of the family and friends, Tony Seabolt (son), Lee Williams (son-in-law), TJ Seabolt, Aaron Seabolt, David Turner, Josh Anderson, Alex Smith, George Dowell, John Willis, Wayne Patterson, Ken Mattison, Cohen Seabolt, Thomas Simper, Bryson Rowe, Chandler Kerr, Tristan Cutter and Laken Anderson.
Honorary escort will be Clarence Bowen, Jr., Levi Sharpe, Ronnie Bentley, Jimmy Owensby and Sam Stevenson.
The family will receive friends at Emerald Baptist Church on Thursday from 1:00-2:30 p.m.
