Jewel Gasaway Carter, 84, widow of Dalton F. Carter, died on Friday, January 4, 2013 at the Abbeville Nursing Home with her children at her side. Born in Anderson, she was a daughter of the late J. B. and Julia Marie Gasaway. She retired from Sky City and was a member of West Side Baptist Church. Surviving are her children, Bob Carter (Lynn) of Charleston, Tommy Carter (Lisa) of Hampton, VA, Jeffrey Carter (Marilyn) of Bradley, Beth �J.B.� Dettmann (Rick) and Joe Carter (Katie), all of Greenwood; sister, June Tolly (Fred) of Anderson; 16 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by sisters, Montez Bolt, Patti Seigler, Sara Dixon and Dot Lockaby. The family wishes to express special thanks to the staff of the Abbeville Nursing Home for their love and care to Mrs. Carter during the seven years that she has resided there.
