Jewell Lee Kelly, 83, of Greenwood, husband of Beverly Kelly, passed away Friday, February 7, 2025.
Born in Rutherfordton, NC, he was the son of the late Robert and Mary Byers Kelly. Jewell proudly served in the United States Navy, and he led a life filled with family and laughter. After his military service, he dedicated his career as a truck driver for J. B. Hunt. Married for 61 years to his beloved wife, he valued the moments spent around the dinner table, delighting in Beverly's cooking and creating lasting memories with his family. An avid fisherman, Jewell found joy in spending time outdoors and had a wonderful sense of humor that brought smiles to those around him. He was a member of the Ninety Six First Baptist Church and the Jack Marshall Sunday School Class.
Surviving in addition to his beloved wife of the home are his children, James Lee Kelly (Neeta Hayden), Wanda Lynn Curtis (Randy) and Steven Scott Kelly (Mary Beth); sister, Betty Ruth Byars; grandchildren, Brianna Hammond (Matthew), Kathryn Alexis Kelly (Logan Yates), Brendan Scott Kelly, Leeland Andrew Kelly and Brookelynn Anastasia Kelly; great grandchildren, Gracie Rae Hammond and Everleigh Rhett Hammond; and several nieces and nephews.
Services will be held at 2 pm on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, at Ninety Six First Baptist Church with the Rev. Chuck Sprouse and Rev. Michael How officiating. Burial will follow at Oakbrook Memorial Park.
Pallbearers will be Derrell Lockaby, Matthew Hammond, Rusty Hughes, Logan Yates, Houston Matthews, Rick Smith and Brendan Kelly.
Honorary escort will be the members of the Jack Marshall Sunday school class.
The family will receive friends before the service at the church from 1:00-2:00pm.
