James Hiram Everett, 90, formerly of Jennings Ave. and Timberwood Road, widower of Kathleen Parrish Everett, died Thursday, October 8, 2015, at Morningside of Greenwood. Born in Washington, DC, he was the son of the late James Brantley and Ruby Mae Everett. Jim was a U. S. Navy veteran, having served during WWII and the Korean War. He was a 1945 graduate of UNC-Chapel Hill where he was a member of Phi Beta Kappa. After a career in data processing, Jim retired from Greenwood Mills. He was a member of Main Street United Methodist Church where he sang in the chancel choir. He was preceded in death by a daughter and son-in-law, Lynn and Ken "Pita " Hall of Greenwood; and a brother, Dr. Gerald W. Everett, of Roanoke, AL. Surviving are a daughter, Susan Corley (David) of Laurens; three grandchildren, Perrin Hall Brunson (Tyler) of Columbia, Andrew Corley (Meghan) of Shelby, NC, and Rebecca Corley of Laurens; and three great grandchildren, Maggie, Sylvia and Ali Brunson of Columbia.
