James H. Garrett, 92, formerly of 2601 Lane Avenue, Anderson, widower of Alma Stanridge Garrett, died Saturday, March 14, 2015 at Saluda Nursing Center. Born in Six Mile, he was the son of the late David William Garrett and Gertrude Parrott Garrett. Jim was a U. S. Army Air Corp veteran having served during WWII. He was a retired plaster mason from Arnold & Garrett and was a member of Pope Drive Baptist Church in Anderson and attended Richard Springs Baptist Church in Ward. He was preceded in death by a brother, Joseph Garrett. Surviving are a son, James Jimmy' H. Garrett, Jr., of Hodges; three sisters, Elizabeth Berry of Ward, Valeria Atchison (Bernard) of Milledgeville, GA and Edith Berry (Joe) of Pensacola, FL; and a number of grandchildren.
