James "Jimmy" Giles, 77, of Troy, passed away on September 11, 2025.

Born in Newberry, SC, James was a son of Douglas and Evelyn Holtzclaw Giles.

Jimmy dedicated his life to the world of music, sharing his passion and talent as a long-time music teacher at Cambridge Academy and serving as the music director at Good Shepherd Catholic Church. His influence on countless students and community members will be remembered fondly for years to come.

He is survived by his wife, Sharon Whitlock Giles; son, Jeffrey Poole (Amy); daughter, Margaret "Mimi" Giles Taylor; sister, Suzanne Todd (Curt); grandchildren, Jackson Taylor, Giles Taylor, Luke Poole, Katie Poole, and Claire Poole; nephews, Cameron Todd (Claire) and Corey Todd (Allie); and several great nieces and nephews.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by sister, Connie Giles.

A memorial service will be held at Good Shepherd Catholic Church on Saturday, September 20, 2025 at 12:00 pm.
