Obituary

James "Jimmy" Kermit Gorman, 83, passed away on October 11, 2026, in Greenwood, SC.

Born in Batavia, Iowa, he was the son of Kermit Gorman, and Robert and Ruby Terry Gorman.

A proud veteran, Jimmy served his country as a Military Police officer in the U.S. Army. He loved people and staying busy. As a true jack of all trades, he put his skills to work running his own business, Gorman Electric. He was generous with his time and talents and offered his services for free to many in his community who were down on their luck. He was a member of New Market Baptist Church, an avid fisherman, and a natural social butterfly who could strike up a conversation with absolutely anyone.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle Faulkner Gorman; sons, James Delman Gorman (Sherri), Daniel Kermit Gorman, Wendall Dee Gorman (Debra), and Jason Darrell Gorman (Shanon); sisters, Sandra Cobb, and Beverly Horner of Oklahoma; grandchildren, Timothy Gorman, Trevor Gorman, Kasey Corbin (Aaron), Emily McFerrin, Isaac Gorman, Charles Geddings, II (Jennifer), Austin Davis, and Layla Gorman Overholt (Ben).

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Sammy Robert Gorman and a granddaughter, Summer Gorman.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 PM on Sunday, October 18, 2026, at New Market Baptist Church.

The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.

In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to the baseball team at Greenwood American Legion Post 20, PO Box 5058, Greenwood, SC, 29649.
