Obituary

James Arthur Osborne, 82, of Hodges, widower of Mary Edmonds Osborne, passed away Monday, January 26, 2026, at McCormick Post Acute.

Born in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Leon Agnew and Lorena Luker Agnew. In October 1965 at the age of 22, Jimmy began work with the county as a mechanic/motor operator at the old County Prison Camp located near the airport. He retired as a road Maintenance Superintendent after working over 41 years. Jimmy was a man of simple pleasures, finding joy in outdoor activities such as fishing, spending time on the lake, and tending to his garden. He was known for his passion for cutting his grass and tinkering with lawn mowers, skills that brought him both satisfaction and a sense of accomplishment. His love for nature and the outdoors was a defining aspect of his life. He was of the Baptist faith.

He was twice married, first to the late Nancy Smith Osborne.

Surviving are his children Ken Osborne, Rita Buckner and Tracey Ellis; grandchildren, Kayla Craft (Robbie Coleman), Cassandra Boswell (Brandon), Ashley Buckner (Kevin Schmuck) and Amanda Buckner; and great grandchildren, Preston Richey, Keaton Boswell, Lilayh Boswell, David Whiteman and Avery Hirning,

Services will be held 2:00 pm on Monday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. James Rodgers and Rev. RC Davenport officiating. Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
Pallbearers will be Ken Osborne, Clifton Laughlin, Joe Davenport, RC Davenport, Keaton Boswell and Brandon Boswell.

Honorary escorts will be Ronnie Davenport, Preston Richey, Jeff Knight and Kipp Wilson.

The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00-2:00 pm.
