James David "Cricket" Simmons, Sr., 61, of 112 Bream Street, husband of Marie Youngman Simmons, died Monday, December 5, 2016 at Hospice House.
Born in Hendersonville, NC, he was a son of the late Willie E. and Mary Louise Smith Simmons. Jimmy was an avid fisherman, motorcycle enthusiast and a special friend of the Lakelands Chapter of the Warlocks Motorcycle Club. He was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife of the home; his children, David Simmons (B.J.) and Greg Simmons (Vanessa), both of Graniteville, SC, Shane Simmons of the home, Justin Simmons (Jamie) of Mitchell, GA, Starr Raisley (Chris) Lexington, SC; stepchildren, Mary Susan Butler of the home and Robert E. Butler of Greenwood, SC; sisters, Janice Denney (Robert) of Edgefield, SC and Patricia Haas (Mark) of Cleveland, OH; a brother, Leon Simmons of Sumter, SC; 15 grandchildren; three great grandchildren and a very special aunt, Lois Freeman of Sumter, SC.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Calvin Simmons, Tommy Simmons and Roger Simmons.
A Celebration of Life will be held from 3 to 5 p.m. on Friday at Harley Funeral Home.
Family members are at their respective homes.
