James Arthur "Jimmy" Ward, 81, of Greenwood, took his final trip home on October 30, 2024.

Jimmy was an avid truck driver for over 40 years and previously owned and operated Ward's Trucking. He was a lover of all things NASCAR and there wasn't a Sunday in his living room that the race wasn't playing. His world revolved around his grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Jimmy leaves behind his wife of 50 years, Ruby, his two children, a son, Darris Ward & daughter, Jamie (Toby) Hyde. Four grandchildren, JR (Loren) Ward and Kayla (Storm) Williams, of Greenwood, Riley (Dustin) Moore, of Abbeville, and Jessica (Blake) Miller, of Ware Shoals, and nine great grandchildren, Serenity, Joseph, Cayden and Delilah Ward, Landon and Jenna Moore, Keegan Williams, and Colt and Kylie Miller. He is also survived by two sisters-in-law, two brothers-in-law, multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and two aunts. He also leaves behind his canine daughter, Lizzie.

Jimmy was preceded by his parents Joseph and Glenna Ward, mother-in-law Ruby Hodges, two brothers-in-law, Charles & Ernest Harris, and his canine son, Droopy.

Services will be Saturday, November 2, 2024, at 2pm at Coronaca Baptist Church with Pastor Todd Polatty officiating. Burial will be held at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be JR Ward, Toby Hyde, Storm Williams, Blake Miller, Stephen Franklin, Mike Ward, Brian Ward and Joey Ward.

The family will receive friends before the service at the church from 1-2pm.

The family will be at the home and asks in lieu of flowers donations be made to Hospice & Palliative Care of the Piedmont, 408 West Alexander Avenue, Greenwood, SC 29646 and Greenwood Humane Society, Po Box 49776, Greenwood, SC 29649. We would also like to give special thanks to Misty Bruce and Kayla Beaty and the Hospice care team for treating him so well in his final days.
