JoAnn Terry Morris, 85, of Greenwood, widow of Bill T. Morris, passed away Monday, August 4, 2025 at her sister, Debra's home, who cared for her tirelessly for the past six months.
Born on December 16, 1939, in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late James Fred Terry and Etta Shaw Terry.
JoAnn's early career was dedicated to her job at Greenwood Mills, where she worked in the preparation department. After retirement, she devoted many years to patient sitting, offering companionship and care to those in need. Her nurturing spirit extended beyond that, as she also volunteered tirelessly at the Humane Society, where her love for animals shone brightly.
Music was a constant source of joy for JoAnn, filling her days with rhythm and melody. She found happiness in the simple pleasures of life, especially in the company of her beloved dogs, Stewart and Baby, who brought endless joy to her heart.
JoAnn will be remembered not just for her hard work and dedication but for the love and kindness she shared with all who were fortunate enough to know her. She leaves behind a legacy of compassion and community service that will inspire generations to come.
She is survived by her son, Tony Morris; stepson, Marco Morris; grandchildren, Thomas J. Morris, who was raised in the home; Bryan Morris, Luke Morris, Kyle Morris, Rian Morris, Kendra Morris, and Daniel Morris; sisters, Jean Goodman and Debbie Fain; and numerous great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, Bill, she was preceded in death by two sons, Billy Morris and Jeff Morris and two sisters, Linda Allen and Betty Maxwell.
Services will be held at 2:00 P.M. on Tuesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Phillip Howle officiating. Inurnment will be at McCormick City Cemetery.
The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00-2:00 P.M. at the funeral home.
Memorials may be made to a Humane Society of one's choice.
