Joe M. Sprouse, 79, of McCormick, husband of Cindy Balderson Sprouse, passed away Monday, August 28, 2023 at his home.

Born in Craigsville, VA, he was a son of the late Elijah H. Sprouse and Thelma Zimbro Sprouse. He was a US Army veteran, enlisted during the Vietnam era. Joe was a Golf Professional, where he mentored others on learning and improving their game. He enjoyed all types of music and played the drums. Joe had his black belt in karate and enjoyed hunting, fishing, playing baseball, and telling stories in his free time. Above all else Joe loved his family dearly.

He is survived by his wife, Cindy of the home; son, Shannon Sprouse (Julie Haven) of Hilton Head; brother, Michael Sprouse (Susan); sister-in-law, Pamela Sprouse, both of Virginia; multiple extended family and close family friends.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Jacqueline Sprouse and brother, Steven Sprouse.

A celebration of life will be held on Wednesday, September 13, 2023 at 12 noon at the Tara Golf Club at Savannah Lakes Village, 300 Country Club Dr. McCormick, SC with an inurnment held at a later date in Virginia. A reception will be held following the service.
