John Darrell Cogdill, 78, of Greenwood, passed away Monday, March 25, 2024 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Marshall Cogdill and Magnolia Arnold Cogdill. He was formerly employed with NHC Greenwood in the maintenance department. John loved listening to classical country music, picking at his guitar, and riding horses.
He is survived by his stepdaughters, Sandy Kagan and Rosie George; sisters, Margaret McDonald (Mark) and Frances Corley; brother, Clarence Cogdill (Glenda); two grandsons, Brad Day and Chad Day; two great grandsons; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his lifetime companion, Jeanette George; daughter, Tracy Lynn George; sister, Vernell Riser; and brother, Haverd "Butch" Cogdill.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Harley Funeral Home chapel. Burial will follow at Elmwood Cemetery in Ninety Six.
The family will receive friends before the service from 1:00-2:00 p.m. on Thursday at the funeral home.
