John Wesley Dixon, 96, of 215 Crestmont Drive, Greenwood, widower of Nellie L. Gooch Dixon, died Saturday, September 1, 2018 at his home.

Born in Elbert County, GA, he was a son of the late John Henry Dixon and Elizabeth Drucie Dixon. John was a U. S. Army veteran having served during WWII and retired from Greenwood Mills. He was a member of Beulah Baptist Church.

Surviving are his children, Larry Wayne Dixon (Marie) of Abbeville, Joanne Nichols of Johnson City, TN and Sandra Lynn Dixon (Nancy Cooper) of Burlington, NC; three brothers, Ralph Junior Dixon (Mary Ann), Gene Arnold Dixon, both of Comer, GA and Wilburn Dixon (Sally) of Greenwood; three grandchildren, Jeff Dixon (Velvet) of Hodges, Ronda Threlkeld (Travis) of Ninety Six and Ben Vinson (Kiley) of La Grange, KY; seven great grandchildren; and nine great-great grandchildren.

Services will be held at 12 noon on Wednesday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Craig Scott and Rev. David Cobb officiating. Burial will be in Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Pallbearers will be Andy Threlkeld, Justin Trull, Travis Threlkeld, David Gooch, Grover Christian and Wayne Sartin.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home before the service from 11 am-12pm.
