John William McKinney, 80, of 1016 Ninety Six Hwy., husband of Lona Baker McKinney, died Friday, March 5, 2010 at Hospice House. Born in Ninety Six, SC, he was a son of the late Bryant Glenn McKinney and Lillie Cooper McKinney. He was a retired service station owner in Bath, NY. Mr. McKinney served in the United States Marine Corps and was a veteran of The Korean War. While living in Bath, NY, he was a past president of The Lions Club and past Master of the Steuben Lodge #112 in Bath, NY. He was a member of Scottish Rite of Free Masons in Corning, NY; a Shriner of The Hejaz Temple in Greenville, SC; a member of the Bascomb Lodge #363, Hodges, SC; and The American Legion Post 20 in Greenwood, SC. He was a member of Mathews United Methodist Church. Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are three sisters, Glenn Faye and her husband Roy Stockman, Charleston, SC; Ruth McKinney, Conover, NC; Yvonne and her husband Cecil Covil, Greenwood, SC; and one brother, Gerald McKinney and his wife, Nehaw of Shreveport, Louisiana. He was predeceased by two sisters, Desaree Martin and Doris Varella, and one brother, Foster McKinney.
