John Edward Moore, 65, of Greenwood, husband of Annette Brooks Moore, passed away Friday, December 15, 2023.
Born in Greenwood, he was a son of the late Robert Dewitt Moore and Dorothy Mae Snook Moore.
John was known for his passion for trucking and hauling heavy equipment with Chandler Construction. With his larger-than-life personality, he delighted in sharing stories of his adventures on the road. His sense of humor was infectious, bringing joy and laughter to those around him. John had a heart of gold and was always ready to lend a helping hand to anyone in need and was known as a "big teddy bear.". He enjoyed singing, playing guitar and was a member of Harris Baptist Church. John and his wife would have celebrated their 20th wedding anniversary on December 20th.
Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his children: Johnna Hawthorne (Eric), Erin Renteria (Rodrigo), Katie Moore (Jared Carpenter) and Michael Stuart; sister, Barbara Gunter (Buddy); brother, Bobby Moore (Loree); grandchildren, Ellie, Miles, Watson and Esmeralda; and his beloved dog, Candy.
A memorial service will be held at 12pm on Monday, December 18, 2023, at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Frank Thomas and Rev. Randy Ouzts officiating.
The family will receive friends before the service on Monday from 11 am-12 pm.
Family members are at their respective homes.
Memorials may be made to a charity of one's choice.
The family would like to express their gratitude for the many calls, visits and prayers given over the last few months.
