John Archie Raynes, 69 of 1548 Parkway Apt. 2-C, died on Thursday, September 3, 2015 at Hospice House. Born in Greenwood, he was the son of the late Archie Faye Raynes and Willie Jordan Raynes. John was a veteran having served in the U. S. Marine Corps during Vietnam. He retired from Greenwood Mills and was a member of Mt. Creek Baptist Church. Surviving are two sisters, Mary Raynes Shahid and her husband, C. J., of Charleston and Carla Nabors of Greenwood; two nieces, Jennifer S. Trau and her husband Scott of Charlotte, NC and Kimberly Shahid of Charleston; a nephew, Billy Evans of Greenwood; a special friend who was like a daughter, Carla Edwards and her husband Mark, of Saluda. Also surviving are a number of extended family and friends. In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to Hospice House, 408 West Alexander Ave, Greenwood, SC 29646 or to Self Regional Healthcares Cancer Center, 1325 Spring Street, Greenwood, SC 29646.
