John L. Scherle Jr., 74, of Cross Hill, husband of Gwen Gale Scherle, died Monday, January 24, 2022, at his home.

Born in Philadelphia, PA, he was the son of the late John L. Scherle Sr., and Helen Watson Scherle. John was a former technician with Philadelphia Electric Company.

Surviving in addition to his wife is his daughter, Donna Butcher (Robert) of PA; two grandchildren, Amanda and Tommy; a great grandson, Christopher; and four cousins, Ray, Lorraine, Diane and Gail, whom he considered his brothers and sisters.

Services will be held at 2 pm on Saturday at Harley Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Robert Fleming officiating. Burial will follow in Oakbrook Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home before the service from 1-2 pm.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the Wounded Warriors Project or to the Tunnel of Towers.
