John Crowder, 70, of 9116 Hwy 246 South, husband of Joyce Gregory Crowder, died Wednesday, December 13, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Alleghany County, VA., he was a son of the late Virgil and Elizabeth Perkins Crowder. He was previous employed by Virginia Electrical and Power Company and later an assistant manager at Wal Mart. He was a member of Sandridge Baptist Church.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his son, John Virgil Crowder, Jr. (Susan); his daughter, Angela Campbell (Melvin), both of Covington, VA.; stepson, Ty McElveen (Ronda) of Beaufort, SC; sisters, Ann Huddleston and Virgie Phillips, both of Covington, VA.; grandsons, David John Crowder and Josh Campbell; and step grandchildren, Chole Elizabeth McElveen and Oliver McElveen.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Lee "Cricket" Crowder.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday at Sandridge Baptist Church with the Rev. Marty Dorn officiating.

The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
A service will be held in Covington, VA. at a later date.
