John William Timmons, Jr., M.D., 73, husband of April Powers Timmons, died on Wednesday, February 17, 2016.
Born in Indianapolis, IN, he was the son of the late John William Timmons, Sr. and Elizabeth Josephine "Betty Jo" Amick Timmons. John received both his undergraduate degree in 1964 and his Medical Doctorate degree in 1967 from Ohio State University. He completed his residency at the Mayo Clinic, Rochester, MN and his fellowship at Detroit Children's Home, Detroit, MI. He practiced urology in Gainesville, FL until his retirement in 2010.
John served as a Medical Officer in the US Army. He was stationed in Honolulu, HI from 1967-1970, during the Vietnam Era.
To comment that John was an avid golfer would be an understatement. He was a member of the Varsity Golf Team at Ohio State from 1962-1964 and was constantly traveling the globe in pursuit of playing the most prestigious golf courses. He was a member of The Patriot at Grand Harbor.
Surviving are his wife of the home; his daughters, Lisa Kane (Peter) of Boston, MA, Sarah Elnicki (Marty) of St. Petersburg, FL and Courtney Brown (Max) of Austin, TX; his stepchildren, Trey Shinn of Blaine, WA and Ashley Shinn of Greenville, SC; six grandchildren, Dennis Kane, Joe Kane, Kate Elnicki, Josephine Elnicki, Wyatt Brown and Garrett Brown; and a step grandson, Nolan Shinn.
