John Willis Whaley, Sr., 87, of 217 Manning Road, husband of Louise Adams Whaley, passed away Sunday, April 7, 2019 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Abbeville, he was a son of the late Henry and Ruth Ferguson Whaley. He was a US Air Force veteran and a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church. Mr. Whaley opened Whaley's Tire in 1978, which was in operation for 38 years. He enjoyed spending time with his family, traveling with his wife, especially to Holden Beach, NC, and fishing.

Surviving in addition to his wife of the home are his children, John Whaley, Jr. (Judy) of Ninety Six, Mike Whaley of Arlington, TX, and Kenneth Evans (Grace) of Houston, TX; a sister, Eleanor Price (Butch) of Statesville, NC; a brother, Bob Whaley (Norma) of Spartanburg, SC; ten grandchildren; twenty seven great grandchildren; and one great great grandchild.

Services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Alvin Hodges and Rev. Russ Shinpoch officiating. Entombment, with military rites, will follow the service at Greenwood Memorial Gardens Mausoleum.

Pallbearers will be his nephews.

The family will receive friends from 1:30 – 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday at the funeral home.
