José López Luna, de 75 años, falleció el 17 de julio de 2026 en Greenwood, Carolina del Sur, en Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Nacido el 18 de junio de 1951 en Guanajuato, México, José fue un amado esposo, padre y pastor, que dedicó su vida a servir a los demás y a dirigir su congregación en la Iglesia Asamblea Apostólica hasta su jubilación en 2023. Tenía una gran pasión por la vida que iba más allá de sus deberes pastorales. Le encantaba pescar y disfrutaba recorrer tiendas de artículos de segunda mano, donde encontraba tesoros e historias en cada rincón. En su juventud, disfrutaba jugar voleibol y fútbol, y en sus últimos años encontró una inmensa alegría viendo a sus equipos y partidos favoritos. Sus hijos, Nathaniel e Irwin, ambos jugaron fútbol americano en la escuela secundaria, y a José le encantaba animarlos desde las gradas durante sus partidos. Se sintió inmensamente orgulloso cuando el equipo de Nathaniel ganó el campeonato estatal. Era un gran aficionado a la lucha libre y disfrutaba viendo la WWE. Su familia siempre atesorará las risas que compartieron mientras él intentaba, de manera juguetona, que su hija Priscila imitara la famosa "Ceja del Pueblo" de The Rock. Era un brillante mecánico autodidacta. Le enseñó a su hija Raquel a hacer su primer cambio de aceite cuando ella era apenas una niña, con una paciencia que aún hoy se recuerda. Le sobreviven su esposa, María Pioquinto de Mata López; sus hijas, Raquel León (César) y Priscila López Ledford; y sus hijos, José Nathaniel López e Irwin López.

Se llevará a cabo un servicio fúnebre a las 11:00 a. m. del viernes 24 de julio de 2026 en la Iglesia Asamblea Apostólica de Greenwood, oficiado por el Obispo Celso Franco y el Pastor Lazo.

El sepelio se realizará posteriormente en Greenwood Memorial Gardens.

Jose Lopez Luna, 75, passed away on July 17, 2026, in Greenwood, SC at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born on June 18, 1951, in Guanajuato, Mexico, Jose was a beloved husband, father, and pastor, who dedicated his life to serving others and leading his congregation at the Apostolic Assembly Church until his retirement in 2023. He had a passion for life that extended beyond his pastoral duties. He loved fishing and enjoyed exploring thrift shops, where he found treasures and stories around every corner. In his youth, he enjoyed playing volleyball and soccer, and in later years, found immense joy in watching his favorite teams and matches. His sons, Nathaniel and Irwin, both played high school football and Jose loved cheering from the stands at their games. He was so proud when Nathaniel's team won the state championship. A massive wrestling fan, he loved watching the WWE. His family will always cherish the laughs they shared in his playful attempts to get his daughter, Priscila, to copy The Rock's signature "People's Eyebrow". He was a brilliant self-taught mechanic. He taught his daughter, Raquel, how to do her very first oil change when she was just a little girl with such patience that is still remembered to this day. At his core, however, Jose was a quiet and private man. He spoke through actions, not words, and his quiet strength and devotion will be deeply missed by everyone who loved him.

He is survived by his wife, Maria Pioquinto de Mata Lopez; daughters, Raquel Leon (Cesar) and Priscila Lopez Ledford; and sons, Jose Nathaniel Lopez and Irwin Lopez.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, July 24, 2026, at the Apostolic Assembly Church in Greenwood, officiated by Bishop Celso Franco and Pastor Lazo.

Burial will follow at Greenwood Memorial Gardens.
