Joseph Bramlett Whitt, Sr., 83, entered into eternal rest on Monday, Jan 21, 2013 in the home of his daughter, Nancy Whitt Parlier, with his wife, Nellie Hagood Whitt, by his side. He went peacefully and with loving family surrounding him. Born in Townville, SC on April 18, 1929, he was a son of the late Cooley and Viola Mary Dixon Whitt and was a graduate of Greenwood High School and Trident Technical College. He served in the U.S. Navy during the World War II and continued his civil service career with the Navy as a NCIS. He was a member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church in Greenwood. He has left behind his wife of 55 years, Nellie Hagood Whitt; six children, Joseph B. Whitt, Jr. (Tommie Hamlin Whitt) of Mauldin, Cheryl Whitt Kinard of Goose Creek, John A. Whitt (Judith Turner Whitt) of Summerville, Nancy Whitt Parlier (Kevin Parlier) of Wanamingo, MN, Kathy Whitt Manche (Johnny Manche) of River Falls, WI and Gloria Sue Whitt of Raleigh, NC; a brother, Roy Whitt (Mary) of Greenwood; 19 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Mr. Whitt was a true patriarch of his family and servant of the Lord and he will be tremendously missed by those who knew and loved him.
