Brenda Joyce Gunter Buchanan, 72, of 302 Island Ford Road, wife of Harold Buchanan, died Wednesday, May 17, 2017 at Hospice House.

Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Henry Grady Gunter and Ruth Hancock Gunter. Joyce was a graduate of Ninety Six High School and retired from Greenwood Mills. Following retirement she was employed with McDonalds and was a member of Greenwood Shores Baptist Church.

She was preceded in death by a son, James Buchanan and two grandchildren.

Surviving in addition to her husband of 51 Years of the home are three sons, Gene Buchanan (Lisa), Dean Buchanan(Lisa) and Tommy Buchanan (Bobbie); a brother, Steve Gunter (Pat), all of Greenwood; ten grandchildren; and six great grandchildren.

Graveside services will be held at 11 am on Friday at Greenwood Shores Baptist Church Cemetery with the Rev. Sam Hawthorn and Rev. Lee Going officiating.

Pallbearers will be Jason Buchanan, Terrance Buchanan, Tommy Lee Buchanan, Michael Buchanan, Josh Buchanan, Zach Buchanan and Will Buchanan.

The family will receive friends at Harley Funeral Home on Thursday from 6 to 8 pm.
