Joyce Cannon McManus, 71, of 117 Roman Circle, wife of Lonnie McManus, went to her heavenly home from Hospice House on Monday, November 14, 2011 to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Born in Greenwood, she was a daughter of the late Charles W. and Vivian Ferguson Cannon. She was a 1959 graduate of Greenwood High School and had completed numerous courses at Piedmont Technical College. She was retired from Greenwood Development Corporation as an assistant to the vice president of finance. After retirement, Joyce worked as a systems analyst for Capsugel and served as a volunteer for HospiceCare of the Piedmont. Joyce was a faithful member of Rice Memorial Baptist Church, the Unity Sunday School Class and the Adults for Joy. She demonstrated her Christian faith and love by always thinking of others first. Her strength and never wavering faith in her God sustained her and inspired many through her long and courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Surviving is her husband of the home; a daughter, Pat McManus of Ninety Six; two sons, Chuck McManus and his wife, Bonnie, of Ninety Six and Glen McManus and his wife, Brenda, of Inman; a sister, Dot Moon and her husband, Richard, of Greenwood; a brother, Donald Cannon and his wife, Norma, of Ninety Six; two granddaughters, Teresa McManus and Christina Visintainer; a grandson, John Visintainer; a great grandson, Carson McManus; a special sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Dot M. and J. B. Whatley of Cayce.
