J.R. Davis, 93, of Greenwood, widower of Irene Davis, passed away Wednesday, December 13, 2023 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born in Donalds, SC, he was the son of the late Archie Davis and Margaret Nabors Davis. He retired from Greenwood Mills, Mathews Plant, and was a member of South Greenwood Pentecostal Holiness Church. In his younger years J.R. was an active softball player. He loved rabbit hunting, bird watching, and going to yard sales even into his nineties.

J.R. is survived by his children, Sandra Davis Bryant (James), Janice Davis Davenport (Wayne), and Larry Davis (Debra); grandchildren, Darin Davenport (Kim), Gina Kerhoulas (George), Andrea Sanders, Kim Settle (Rick), and Jami Lee (Jason); twelve great grandchildren; one great great grandchild: and a daughter-in-law, Terri Davis.

Along with his parents and beloved wife, J.R. was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Davis.

Graveside services will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday at Greenwood Memorial Gardens. The service will be officiated by Reverend Alvin Hodges.

The family will be at the home of his daughter, Janice, 107 Orchard Park Drive, Greenwood, SC 29649.
