Karen Judy Hawthorne Durr, 68, of 201 Orchard Drive, widow of Neal Durr, died Saturday, July 15, 2017 at Self Regional Medical Center.

Born in Kannapolis, NC, she was a daughter of the late Edgar Judy and Frances Cole Worthington. She was a retired mental health specialist and was an avid gardener. Karen was a member of Tranquil United Methodist Church.

Surviving are her sons, Charles William "Bill" Hawthorne, III and his wife, Carolyn, and Steven Scott Hawthorne and his fiancée, Michelle Cole; her grandchildren, Ashleigh Hawthorne, Emily Hawthorne, Chase Hawthorne and Brooklynn Hawthorne, all of Greenwood; and was expecting her first great grandchild in December.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Freddy Judy.

A memorial service will be held at 3 p.m. Wednesday at the Harley Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. Shawn Armstrong officiating.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service.
