Katie Highsmith Harter, age 96 of 3311 Ninety Six Highway, Ninety Six, widow of Willie James �Buddy� Harter, died Sunday, April 17, 2011 at Hospice House. Born in Anderson, she was the daughter of the late Willie Alonzo Highsmith and Etta Beatrice Smith Highsmith. Mrs. Harter was a loving mother and homemaker. She retired from Greenwood Mills and was a member of Cambridge United Methodist Church where she was in the Ever Ready Sunday school class. She was preceded in death by a brother, David Highsmith and two sisters, Edith Cook and Thelma Highsmith. Surviving are a daughter, Terry (Bill) Davis of Forest Park, GA; three sons, Wade (Joyce) Harter, James Harter, both of Ninety Six and Steve Harter of Atlanta; seven grandchildren; and six great grandchildren. Pallbearers will be Christopher Pinson, Shelton Pinson, Bryce Pinson, Yurgen Harter, Johann Harter and Timothy Davis.
