Alvin Kenneth Looper, 79, widower of Nancy Looper, passed peacefully on Wednesday, November 23, 2022 in Greenwood.
Born in Greenville, he was a son of the late Major Woodrow and Josie Bayne Looper. Kenneth served in the US Army for seven years and was the owner and operator of Alvin's Upholstery. He loved making others laugh with stories that he shared on a daily basis. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, loved his family and enjoyed singing. Kenneth was of the Baptist faith.
Kenneth is survived by his children, Michael Looper (Tara) of Pickens and Christy Owens (Brian) of Greenville; grandchildren, Austin (Kaitlyn), Aaron, Alaya, Jesse, Nicholas, Caroline and Caitlyn; a great granddaughter, Addilyn; step granddaughters, Rachelle and Hannah; a step great granddaughter, Freya; a brother, Dewayne Looper (Stephanie) of Ninety Six; special nieces and nephews; his best friend, Pastor Chris Harrison along with multiple extended family and friends.
In addition to his wife, he was also preceded in death by his sister, Shelby Jean Canham and a brother, Tommy Looper.
A graveside service, with military rites, will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday at Woodlawn Memorial Park, 1901 Wade Hampton Blvd., Greenville, SC, with Pastor Chris Harrison officiating.
