Kenneth Alton Youngblood, 83, of Greenwood, husband of Sharon Youngblood, passed away Monday, December 9, 2024 at his home.
He was born 15 September 1941 in Wichita, Kansas to Lavonne Daring and Jack Wade. Formerly raised by grandparents, Edgar and Betty Youngblood in Oklahoma, he worked on a farm and excelled at sports as a youth. When of age, he joined the Army as a infantryman and sharpshooter until his selection to represent the Army all over Europe playing baseball until his enlistment was up in 1964. Ken next started a career in the Los Angeles area, where he worked as a skilled fabricator for an iron company. An avid bowler his entire life, he would next meet the love of his life at a Pomona California bowling alley, Sharon Marie Webb, who he would spend the next 61 years of marriage with. Ken and Sharon would move the family to Oklahoma in the early 70s to raise the children and where he would eventually be hired by the United States Parcel Service, where he would work the next 28 years delivering parcels primarily in the central Oklahoma area from Shawnee to Ada. An avid Oklahoma Sooners and New York Yankees fan, Ken coached youth baseball and football for many years until his own children grew up. He continued in bowling and softball leagues for many more years but also enjoyed other hobbies such as camping, reading, and metal detecting in the county near Tribby and Trousdale, Oklahoma, where he grew up. Ken also had an immense love for motorcycles and old cars and could often be found at a local car meet swapping stories with friends. Known as "Kenny" to his closest friends, anyone that knew him would attest that Kenny's word was gold-if he said he'd be there, it was done. In his final years, Ken enjoyed meeting with friends at the donut shops in Shawnee, supporting the Tecumseh High School sports teams and visiting with family whenever possible.
In addition to his wife, Sharon, he is survived by his son, Kevin and daughter-in-law, Katherine and their two sons, Garrett and Gavin, all of South Carolina; three additional grandchildren, Ashley, Tyler, and Jon; and his sister, Kathy Orozco Behnke and her husband, Robert of Arizona.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kimberly and two brothers, Fred and Paul Orozco, Jr.
