Obituary

Lawrence "Larry" F. Beagen, 85, of Ninety Six, husband of Gayle Chastain Beagen, passed away Monday, November 27, 2023 at Hospice and Palliative Care of the Piedmont.

Born in Detroit, MI, he was a son of the late Frances Beagen and Agnes Hearns Beagen. He pursued engineering and attained an associate degree from the University of Detroit. This education laid the foundation for a successful career as a production manager, where he dedicated four decades of his life to Capsugel.

Upon retiring, Larry discovered a sense of happiness and comfort residing by the lake and engaging in the company of friends and loved ones. Additionally, he held a passion for playing golf, and was a respected member of both the Grand Harbor and Men's Golf Association. Impressively, Larry managed to achieve two hole-in-ones, making his mark on the golfing community.

Larry was a devout Catholic. As a member of Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church he exemplified his commitment to his faith and community by serving as an usher, a lifelong member of the Knights of Columbus, and a confirmation sponsor to many rising Catholics.

His selflessness and dedication to serving others will be remembered as a true testament to his character.
Larry demonstrated his love for his country by serving honorably in the United States Navy and the National Guard.

He is survived by his wife, Gayle; children, Michael Beagen, Brian Beagen (Tammy), Colleen Beagen (Paul Griffith), and Patrick Beagen; stepson, Jody Patterson (Laurie); brothers, Dennis Beagen (Charline) and Thomas Beagen (Mary Jo); grandchildren, Larry (Allicia), Frank, Riley, and Brendan; step grandchildren, Chandler and Carter; four great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Barbara Perkins Beagen; sister, Peg Stasser; and brother, Jack Beagen.
