Frances Walaska (Lassie) Holsonback Compton, 94, resident of Emerald Gardens, died peacefully on Saturday morning, June 13, 2009 at Hospice House in Greenwood following a brief illness. She was the daughter of the late Daniel and Fannie Meece Holsonback and was preceded in death by her husband, John DeVore Compton, Sr. and a daughter, Sandra Marlene Compton. She retired from Connie Maxwell Children�s Home and the Greenwood Eye Clinic and was a member of South Main Street Baptist Church and the Reapers Sunday School Class. She is survived by her sons, Dr. John DeVore Compton, Jr. and his wife, Margaret, of Greenwood and the Rev. Daniel Ellis Compton of Laurens; three grandchildren, John DeVore �Dee� Compton, III, his wife, Alecia, and their children, Chloe, Darcy and Mary Grace, all of Greenwood, Dr. Daniel Burts Compton, his wife, Jennifer, and their children, Elizabeth, Charles and Samuel, all of Kingsport, TN and Dr. Stephanie Turner, her husband, Dr. Alan Turner, and their children, John and Lydia, all of Greenwood. She is also survived by her very special niece, Jennie Ruth Holsonback Cavanaugh, and other very special nephews and nieces.
