Lauren Angela Kittles, 15, of 106 Melanie Court, died Sunday, August 29, 2010 at her home. Born in Greenwood, she was the daughter of Dale and Susan Kinney Kittles.
Lauren was a 10th grade student at Greenwood High School, where she was a member of the JV Softball Team and was an honorary member of the 2010 Post 20 Baseball Team. She was a member of the Greenwood Community Church of the Nazarene and the Salt Shakers. During the past two years, Lauren dedicated her life to make other children with cancer feel better by giving gifts and making cards. She raised money for the St. Baldrick's Foundation for cancer research and helped raise awareness for abortions and the need for blood and platelet donors. Before being struck with cancer two years ago, Lauren was active in YMCA Flipster Gymnastics, cheerleading, softball and dance. While in the 3rd grade, she was awarded 2nd place in South Carolina for a drawing for the state duck stamp. In her earlier years, she participated in plays at the Greenwood Community Theater and was a member of the puppet team and interpretive dance team at her church. We are so proud of Lauren! She made us laugh so much even when she was in pain! We will forever love our little angel!
Surviving are her parents of the home; her grandparents, Ray and Louise Kittles, Marshall and Harriet Kinney, all of Greenwood and her brothers, Chase Kittles of Greenville and Caleb Rogers of Greenwood.
